Membership In Apple Solution Experts Brings Opportunity
TECSoft's connection with Apple through the Solution Experts program was the root of their opportunity to show Apple their AppleScript solutions.

Apple has hired TECSoft to present seminars and workshops at trade shows, uses their demos on sales calls, and refers business to them. In 1995 Apple hired John to develop AppleScript training for channel partners which he delivered for six months to VARs, Dealers and Solution Experts until, "the whoopie hit the fan," as John recalls it. "Everything stopped due to budget cuts." Still sensing the phenomenal potential of AppleScript, John re-directed his training workshops and has been delivering to end customers ever since. Wanting to devote more of his time to AppleScript training rather than to consulting, John created and founded the TECSoft Developers Consortium (TDC), a nationwide network of AppleScript (and related software) developers. TDC matches customer solution needs to a developer with the specific skills required. 
TDC members collaborate to share knowledge and solutions to service all their clientele. By leveraging strengths, TDC members are able to provide depth and breadth in their software solutions. "We are a resource for each other," explains Thorsen, "No one developes in a vacuum. We leverage our expertise and help each other." John adds with a smile, "The TDC is one of my best ideas yet." John now teaches four classes a month across the country, and in August will branch into Canada, teaching a class in Toronto. TECSoft's AppleScript training reflects more than 8 years of real-world development experience. Their Workflow Automation with AppleScript class is an intensive, two day, hands-on introduction to AppleScript. The course is centered around using AppleScript with FileMaker Pro, Canto Cumulus, and QuarkXPress in workflow and publishing automation solutions. This Fall TECSoft will be introducing it's brand new AppleScripting the Finder class, focused on how to automate the Finder, along with FileMaker Pro. "It's the only formal AppleScript training around and the popularity of AppleScript has grown with Apple's rebirth and renewed emphasis on their software and how they are choosing to market it today.
